Yamunotri Dham is situated at the neck of the origin of the Yamuna River. The Yamuna, according to Hindu mythology is the sister of Yamraj. Yamraj had made a vow to his sister on Bhai Dhooj. He promised that anyone who bathes in the river Yamuna will not be taken to Yamlok, thus be freed from the bondage of the life-death cycle. The seat of this Goddess rests in the westernmost Garwal region in Uttarakhand.
GANGOTRI DHAM- GODDESS GANGA
The Gangotri Dham is located at the source of the Ganga River- Gomukh!!

Ganga took life from Gangotri glacier and flowed to Gomukh. Gangotri Dham’s name derived from the Gangotri glacier.
